Role Summary:
Evolution is seeking a Head of Finance to strategically lead our financial operations and contribute directly to our transformation into an AI-enabled firm. This role will be instrumental in shaping the financial infrastructure, analytics capability, and operational backbone of the company.
This position calls for a dynamic finance leader who pairs excellence in traditional finance and accounting with a forward-looking mindset around AI enablement, automation, and process optimization. You’ll own and modernize core accounting processes, build scalable financial systems, and partner across the business to implement intelligent workflows that support our mission-driven growth.
You will work cross-functionally with the CEO, Chief of Staff, Fractional CFO, and Platform Team to bring strategic foresight, financial discipline, and innovation to every layer of Evolution’s operations.
Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Planning
Develop and implement financial strategies to support Evolution’s mission of driving long-, holistic growth and success.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes, integrating real-time data analytics and AI-assisted modeling tools.
Define and monitor KPIs and OKRs to ensure financial health and track progress against strategic goals.
Evaluate capital needs and recommend strategies for investment, pricing, and resourcing.
AI-Enabled Process Optimization & Innovation
Identify and implement automation opportunities across finance and accounting operations, including reporting, reconciliation, expense management, and audit prep.
Partner with the Platform and Technology teams to integrate AI tools into financial workflows (e.g., for predictive modeling, risk analysis, and variance detection).
Continuously assess and upgrade financial systems and tools to enhance data accuracy, reduce manual work, and increase decision velocity.
Bring a systems-thinking approach to designing and evolving scalable, future-ready finance operations.
Financial Operations & Accounting
Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including AP/AR, payroll, GL, and compliance.
Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial statements and reports.
Establish and maintain robust internal controls and audit-readiness across financial systems.
Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial partners.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
Provide insightful, forward-looking financial analysis to support executive decision-making.
Design and maintain dynamic financial models and dashboards that allow for real-time scenario planning and performance management.
Analyze cash flow, unit economics, profitability, and cost structures with a lens toward continuous improvement.
Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Risk Management & Compliance
Proactively assess financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory and reporting requirements.
Oversee business insurance coverage and related financial risk programs.
Contracting
Lead client contracting workflows, including template management, negotiation support, and change request evaluation.
Perform legal client contract review
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
Demonstrated success in financial leadership roles within professional services or advisory-based businesses.
Experience designing and/or implementing AI-enabled financial systems, automation tools, or finance tech stacks (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, AI-powered FP&A tools).
Strong grasp of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities; data-driven with strong business acumen.
Deep experience in operational process design, internal controls, and risk management.
Excellent communication and executive-level presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to work across functions and influence strategic decisions.
Capacity to operate in a high-growth, innovation-forward hybrid environment.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $200,000 annually + equity
