Matt, Partner at Evolution, is a business leader who has sought diverse work experiences to inform his life, work and understanding of things. He is passionate about coaching individuals, organizations, and businesses leaders that are developing, reconnecting with, or re-imagining their paths, missions, purpose, and goals.
Currently, Matt is active in the Los Angeles startup community, co-directing Startup Boost/L.A., a pre-accelerator that educates, mentors and propels early stage companies to their seed and Series A rounds. He also advises individual startups and founders on their business models, messaging and branding, go-to-market stories, revenue and marketing strategies, and fundraising approaches.
Previously, Matt spent nearly 20 years in the digital media and marketing industry. He held senior positions in business strategy, marketing, advertising, business partnerships, revenue strategy, and original programming at Apple, as well as at Yahoo Music and Entertainment. He also founded a successful boutique digital media marketing firm, Upward Digital, LLC, consulting with such companies as Comcast, General Mills, Grind TV Action Sports, Fox, and IAC.
In the realm of community, politics, and public policy, Matt worked in numerous election campaigns. Matt also served as political editor of the Los Angeles Times website (latimes.com), where he produced the first-ever streamed Internet video broadcast of a debate between candidates for California governor, as well as a series of audio interview segments with L.A. Times reporters stationed around the world. Matt also managed The Democracy Network, one of the first Internet-based (non-partisan) election information platforms (later taken over by the League of Women Voters). He researched and co-authored studies on California elections and politics for a non-partisan research institute.
